Your TRIAD Journey
Before surgery
You will be given information about the TRIAD study. If you choose to take part in the follow-up component, you will complete consent for data collection and a short baseline questionnaire about your health, pain, joint function and general wellbeing. These questionnaires take about 10 minutes and can be completed online or by phone.
During your operation
Your hospital will be using the study wash approach allocated for that period of the trial. Both approaches are standard of care. The hospital, not the individual patient, is assigned to the study group.
Around 3 months after surgery
You will be asked to complete a follow-up questionnaire about your recovery, including wound infection, complications and any hospital readmission or further surgery. This is the main timepoint for assessing surgical site infection.
Around 6 months after surgery
You will complete another short questionnaire about pain, function, quality of life, and your satisfaction with the result of your joint replacement.
Around 12 months after surgery
You will complete your final follow-up questionnaire. This helps the study assess longer-term recovery, infection outcomes, any further surgery, and patient-reported outcomes at one year.
Need help?
Questionnaires can be completed online through the secure RAPID platform or by telephone. A family member or friend can also help you complete them if needed. You may receive up to three reminders for each questionnaire.
Your choice
Taking part is voluntary, and deciding not to participate will not affect your care. You can withdraw at any time.
